Dear Parents,
NEWSLETTER 17
Our Haiti Non-Uniform day was absolutely amazing! Even I was flabbergasted at how generous you have all been. Clearly, this is a very emotional and traumatic event and the people involved must be in our prayers but to raise £1072 in just ten minutes at the gate was too good to be true!! Well done everyone!
Thank you, again to Rosie Watson and Georgia Cairney for their original idea and to Mrs. Watson for her kind words:
“Rosie and I would like to say a big, big thank you to everyone who donated money so generously for the tragic earthquake in Haiti. The children and families of St. Saviour’s have shown how caring and thoughtful they are towards others who are less fortunate than themselves. I am so lucky that my daughter attends our school! She is with wonderful children and brilliant staff who all care so much for each other!”
We have decided to use some money from our Mass fund to make our donation up to £2000 but, then which charity do we send it to? When Jake Sarkar, Abu Mohamed, Amelia Hodgson and Pippin Allright visited The Passage yesterday to deliver our Christmas toothbrushes, our host, Sister Rosalie told us that the holy order she belonged to, The Daughters of Charity, were running an emergency project in Haiti. It seems like it was meant to be that we held our non-uniform day yesterday as it seemed like a message was being sent to us as all the money donated will go directly to the work the sisters are doing.
To say that the Sisters were amazed by how much we had raised would be an understatement!
Athletics Team for Wednesday 27th January
Mr. Michael has announced our Athletics team which will be representing the school at Westminster competition next week. The children involved will be: Giulia Monteiro, Christian Kerton-Johnson, Flora Capon, Monty Martin-Zakheim, Francesca Colpitts-Swaby, Aaron Eastman, Maya Giulivi, Samuel Nwosu, Katherine Biggs, Najym Ibnahaten, Ava Innes, Joshua Chering, Denise Phang, Theo Kennedy, Lucy Blum, Fabio Martins, Joseph Carrol and John Mapanzure. Good Luck!!
More sporting news : Well done to Joshua Garwood-Watkins for being selected to participate in an international fencing tournament in Poland in March!
PTA News
The Quiz Night is going to be held next Friday – please make sure to hand in your last minute requests to Mrs. MacKay as soon as possible
Our Grand Auction is also fast approaching and it is essential that we start working now to organise items that we will be selling. There will be a very important PTA meeting next Thursday (28th) at 3:45 p.m. which all Class Reps must attend. We look forward to seeing you then.
Parking Dangerously
This morning, two parents parked in a most dangerous manner when dropping their children off for Breakfast Club. Parking on a zig-zag line or double parking alongside another car is illegal and very inconsiderate to other road users. Early in the morning, there are no parking restrictions, so you can park on a single yellow line or in a Resident’s bay. Please make sure that you abide by the Highway Code and do not bring our school into parking disrepute!
Choir News
The choir is now an amazing singing force and I am delighted that Miss Hodgson and Mr. Wilson have made such a success of this wonderful club. However, when we first started this club in September, we did not realise that we would need to employ Mr. Wilson and, now that another 20 children will be joining from Monday, we need to pay for somebody else to help out. I would be very grateful if parents of Choir children would be prepared to pay the normal £2 from now on so that we can help fund the cost which will be running to £50 per week!
Lunch Money Payments
Mrs. Otero has asked that parents who have received letters telling them that they owe lunch money pay this outstanding money as soon as possible!
Buster and The Teacher Angel
Buster is going home with Hannah Easton who has only just joined the school but has done much to show that she is really “going for her goals”. She always works hard, has lots of new friends and made an exceptional impression on all members of staff. Hannah is an all round Super Star! The Teacher Angel has been awarded to Miss Patterson for not only making our entrance hall look amazing but for also helping all children in Year Five to do their best.
Geographer of the Week : Matilda Hindler-Lowe for being the most enthusiastic member of our Extra Milers Geography group. She chose Portugal for our Country of the Week next week.
Piano and Guitar Lesson Vacancies
Piano: Vanessa Howells has two vacancies for piano lessons on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.
Guitar: James Hancox has vacancies in the beginner’s guitar group that runs from 5:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Thursdays. If you are interested in one of these slots, please speak to Miss Pedersen.

And finally …….. Does anyone have a spider plant that they no longer want or a large one which is currently “carrying” baby plants? If so, Mrs. Voyatzis would like to hear from you!
With all best wishes,
Ms. L. J. Woodford
