Newsletter 16
January 15th, 2010
Dear Parents,
NEWSLETTER 16
Well the snow finally got the better of us and, as you know, we had to close in the afternoon on two occasions. Luckily, we look as if the worst is over but is that tempting fate too much! I have been sent some amazing photographs of snow from around the world which puts everything into perspective. If you would like me to send these to you, please send an e-mail to head@stsaviourssch.com.
Up To Date Contact Details
As we may need to contact you from time to time or send emergency text messages, can you please make sure that we have your correct details; especially is you change your mobile telephone message? It would also be useful if you let Mrs. Kirby know which number the text message should be sent to.
Christianity Day
We held our Christianity Day on Thursday and this year’s theme was Journeys in the Bible. Each class looked at a famous religious journey and researched to create maps and pictures which will be used for a big display in the entrance hall. Please look out for this. Miss Forbes was particularly interested in this as she is passionate about all things Geography!
Maths Week Responses
Thank you to all the parents who have offered to speak to the children about the world of money. Miss Anstey is very excited about the plans for Maths week and will be sending a letter home to you next week – please look out for this.
Quiz Night Is Fast Approaching!
I can inform you that a secret Quiz Night Preparation meeting (rumoured to include a top class curry and liquid refreshments!) has taken place and that the subjects for each round have been decided. These will be either fiendishly difficult or amazingly amusing so please make sure that you send in your team application sheet as soon as possible to ensure that you are taking part. Tickets are £7 each or £35 for a table of six. Mrs. McKay is the person to see if you want a ticket.
Year Six Punctuality
As Year Six children take responsibility of a Reception child, it is really important that they arrive on time each morning so that their young charges are not left standing too long at the top of the stairs. If someone in Year Six is persistently late, I will have to ask another person in the class to take over their Buddy duties.
Free Street/Break Dancing Sessions
If you are in Years 3-6, you may be interested in free street/break dancing sessions that are taking place every Wednesday from 4-5 p.m. at The Little Venice Sports Centre. This sounds like a good idea so please go along if you are interested.
Two Items That Might Interest You!
Jenny Garnett (mum of Molly in Year 5) is trying to find a home for her old Sony Trinitron TV. It works fine, but is bulky (27 inch screen; 22 in. deep; 32 in. wide). If interested, please ring 0208 451 5449.
The Garwood-Watkins family have a Kura Kid’s bed from IKEA which is virtually new and hardly used. It cost £109 new and measures 209 (L) cm x 99 cm (W) x 116 high. It looks very much like a single bed bunk bed (if that sounds right!) and has a safety ladder to gain access. The bed is looking for a new home asap so please contact Stef on 07976 776256 or Stefanie_gw@yahoo.co.uk A donation to St. Saviour’s School Fund is all that is necessary.
Buster and The Teacher Angel
Buster is going home with Sam Corston in Year Two for being amazing this term! He is definitely “Going for Goals” this term and has made great progress in all subjects. Miss O’Brien says that his endless enthusiasm is a joy to see! The teacher Angel award was presented to Miss O’Brien for all the work she does in encouraging children to write beautifully and for making everyone feel special – looks like it is a clean sweep for Year Two this week as……..
Geographer of the Week
The Geographer of the week is Imogen Lee for being so enthusiastic about Japan and bringing in a kimono to show everyone!
