Newsletter 12
4th December 2009
Dear Parents,
NEWSLETTER 12
The Christmas Bazaar was a HUGE success and there was such an atmosphere of warmth and happiness in the school. Everyone worked so hard to ensure that everyone had a great time and we raised a huge amount of money: £3200!
Special thanks go to Mrs. MacKay, Miss Forbes, Miss Pedersen, the PTA Committee and all the Class Reps, Mr. Higgins, Santa’s Elves and Father Christmas Himself! Well done to everyone for joining together and making the beginning of the Festive Season such a success!
Nativity 2009 Successes!
What a wonderful treat we were all given this week with not one but two Nativity plays! We are all so proud of Years Two and One with THE Nativity play of the year plus the Early Years for their very moving (and so well put together!) Nativity, which we all watched today. Thank you to everyone who helped to make the events such a success.
We all loved the songs so much that we will be adding some of them (especially “Rejoice with Us”) to our Carol repertoire! Look out for this at our Carol Concert on December 18th.
PTA Christmas Disco – Tonight!
The famous Christmas Disco is on tonight and there will be tickets available at the door. The KS1 Disco starts at 4:00 p.m. and will be held in the Arts room. KS2 Disco will start at 6:00 p.m. and finish at 8:00. KS1 children may stay to the KS2 Disco if they have older siblings but please do not arrive at 6:00 p.m. with very young children.
KS1 Teaching Assistant Needed
We are looking for a new Teaching Assistant in Key Stage One. If you think you would like to apply for this position, please ask Mrs. Kirby or Mrs. Otero for an application pack. You will need to have experience of working with children and have at least an NVQ Level 2 qualification.
Choir Singing at The Paddington Waterways Service
If your child is in the School Choir, we are hoping that you will join us for the very special service at St. Mary’s Paddington Green on Thursday 10th December. If so, you must let us know if you want a ticket – these are free but you cannot get in unless you have one! Please let the School Office know how many you would like.
Double Parking Raises Its Head Again!
Several parents were seen double parking outside the school this morning – please do not do this as you are not only causing an obstruction right before a very busy junction but you could also be endangering your own child or somebody else’s. Please take a little more time to arrive at school early enough to park sensibly.
There is no more Film Club for the rest of the term. Next Film Club will be in January
Year Six Buddies
Year Six are amazing Buddies and they have made very good friends with their Reception charges. However, some Year Six children are arriving later in the morning than they should do – please make sure you get to school by 8:45 a.m. when the gate opens so that you are waiting for your Buddy and not the other way around.
Christmas Hat Competition
It is the Christmas Hat Competition on Monday – please design and make this weekend and wear your hat to school on Monday. There is an entry fee of £1 for PTA funds and everyone gets a prize. Hats will then be left at school to be worn at the class parties during the week.
Buster and The Teacher Angel
Buster is going home with Krim Kacimi today, as he was extremely calm and brave during a very serious incident in Year Six this week. He was able to help prevent others in the class from being anxious and showed his peers how to act when someone is unwell. Teacher Angel this week is Miss Capell as the children feel that she is always encouraging them to look after the environment and to think about important things such as re-cycling and climate change. Her enthusiasm always makes the children want to help!
Geographer of the Week : This week’s Star Geographer is Mamur-Gadi Mulla for having such good knowledge of the local area and how to be safe in it. Mamur-Gadi chose the Seychelles as the country we will be studying next week.
Stars of the Week – Managing emotions
Nursery: All of the children are Star of the Weeks for an amazing Nativity! Reception : Malachy Gunn for being so confident as a narrator in the Nativity, Year One : Amelia Hodgson for being incredibly sensible and enthusiastic during our Nativity and managing your emotions so well, Year Two : Leila Ingram-Smith for being a fantastic friend to her peers and a wonderful Mary in our Nativity, Year Three : Sheyi Eburajolo for being such an enthusiastic learner all week, Year Four : James Pilcher for always getting on with everyone and froe trying extremely hard with his work, Year Five : Allegra Jashanica for managing feelings by thinking of others before herself, Year Six : Krim Kacimi for being so calm and sensible in the face of an emergency.
