Anthony Gormley Sculpture Project
We are very excited indeed about our latest art project which will begin in March.
We have been working closely with The John Lyon's Trust to fund an innovative art programme for our Gifted and Talented Artists in Key Stage Two. The Trust were so impressed with our ideas that they granted us an unprecedented £3400 to ensure that the project could go ahead.
We will be adding £1600 from our Club Fund to make a grand total of £5000 which will mean we can create the art project of our dreams. The children who will be involved are:
Year Three: Bea Curwin, Maggie Curwin, Chinaza Nwosu, Poppy Ritchie, Benedict Davies
Year Four: Alexander Davidson, David Caro, Georgina Garwood-Watkins, Ivy Webb, Pascale Lee, Pheobe Simon-Evans, Dahlia Giulivi and Billy Bishop-Hodgkins
Year Five: Jack Gibbs, Anastasia Cooke, Brandon Young, Barty Cooke, Molly Garnett, Carl Higgins, Flora Capon and Katherine Biggs
Year Six: Maia Harris, Noor Razooki, Maisy Ritchie, Matilda Hindler-Lowe and Maya Giulivi
The project will start in March and go on until the middle of July. The children will start with a study of Anthony Gormley and his work before visiting his studio in King's Cross and actually meeting this world famous artist!
Following this, we are going to hire our own studio on the Harrow Road where the group will be creating four life-sized sculptures which will eventually be fixed onto the wall in the KS1 playground. We are hoping that Mr. Gormley will visit our studio to see us at work!
Lots of parents are keen to be involved so this will really be a whole community project - what fun!
