Extra Special Non-Uniform Day

Written on 20th January

I am sure you have all heard about the tragic Earthquake in Haiti last week and even though the Earthquake is over there is still a struggle for survival . It is urgent that the people of Haiti have the right Aids to survive.

So thanks to Rosie Watson (Yr 6), her mum and Georgia Cairney (also in Yr 6) we will be having an extra special non school uniform day on Thursday 21st January when everyone who dresses up in non school uniform clothes will have to pay the minimum of £1. All the money we raise will be sent to Haiti and we hope that it will soon be a better place !

AMAZING UPDATE NEWS!!
As you should know we have had our extra special non uniform day to raise money for Haiti this page will tell you what happened after.

As usual on Non-Uniform day, Ms. Woodford stands at the gate with a special red tin. On these days, we normally raise about £200-ish but we were all astonished to see the crazy amount of money that children were donating! It was amazing!

When the money was counted we were, in Ms. Woodford's words, "flabergasted" that we had raised £1072 in just over 10 minutes!!

We then decided that we would add some of the special Mass money that we collect on Mondays to add to this donation to make the grand total £2000. Wow!

Then we had a big problem: which charity would we give the money to so that it could get to the people affected by the hurricane? An answer to this question came from a very unlikely source.

A group of St. Saviour's children (Jake Sarkar, Abu Mohamed, Amelia Hodgson and Pippin Allright) were going to The Passage in Victoria to hand in all the toothbrushes we collected other Christmas (all 566 of them!) when the Host, Sister Rosalie, said that The Daughters of Charity (the holy order of nuns that she belonged) was running an emergency project for the people of Haiti so we decided to donate the money to them.

The Sisters where amazed that we were able to raise so much money and we can be sure that we have done our bit to help Haiti.
