Westminster Environment Champions

We were all very excited when Mr. Mike Newport, who is in charge of ensuring Westminster always looks spick and span, or, as we call him, "The Westminster Council Environment Champion" report to all schools that The Environment Award was to be re-instated thanks to The City Council's Refuse Collector, Veolia, agreed to sponsor the project to the tune of £3000.

This was such great news and, with Miss Capell's agreement, we decided to enter the competition and make our entry really environmentally friendly.

We did this by designing a website that the judges could access and sent no paper whatsoever! We went one step further by e-mailing our entry as a weblink for everyone to see. This was very exciting, innovative and was praised by the judges.

Miss Capell attended the award ceremony with Miss Fiske and some members of the Environment Team (Lucy Blum, Coco Hepner, Cristal Riscosa, Elizabeth Biggs and Hope Morgan). It was all very tense with quite a few other schools having made entries, including secondary schools. Finally, the Team heard that St. Saviour's had won the competition - we were thrilled!
