Criteria for Admission 2010 -2011

Reception Class-Year 6

In the year 2010-2011, the Governors of St. Saviour's School will admit up to 30 pupils into the Nursery class and 30 children in all other classes. In order to comply with government regulations, if the school is oversubscribed, all applications must be subject to the following criteria, listed in order of priority.

1. Looked After children who are Baptised and practising within the Church of England.

2. Baptised children who are regular frequent worshippers with their parent(s) or legal guardian(s) at either of the churches in the Parish of Little Venice (St. Saviour Warwick Avenue and St. Mary-on-Paddington Green).

3. Baptised children who are regular frequent worshippers, with their parent(s) or legal guardian(s), in other Anglican parishes which: (i) do not have an attached school and (ii) do have an attached school.

4. Other Looked After children.

5. Children who are regular frequent worshippers, with their parent(s) or legal guardian(s) at other Christian denominations as recognized by Churches Together in Britain and The Evangelical Alliance.

6. Children who currently attend St. Saviour’s School Nursery.

7. Children with siblings in the School at the time of admission. (ie. who have at least one parent in common or who are legally adopted).

8. Children who are regular worshippers with their parent(s) or guardian(s) within the other major world faiths.

9. Children living closest to the school (Shirland Road entrance) as measured by the shortest walking distance by the Local Education Authority. (SEE FURTHER DEFINITION OVERLEAF)

In the event of oversubscription, priority for a place in the Reception class will be given to children already in our Nursery class provided all the worship criteria have been fulfilled.

Please note that “regular frequent worship” signifies at least three Sundays in every month and for at least two years.

It should be noted that the Local Authority can direct the school to admit a child (or children) who have a statement of educational needs; if and when this occurs it affects the number of children who can be admitted by the school’s admission criteria.
Distances are measured by the shortest walking route, using the road network, from the centre of the child’s home address to the nearest school entrance for pupils, as measured by the Local Authority’s computerised measuring system. Where it is necessary to differentiate between applicants living in flats using the same street entrance, priority will be given to the applicant(s) living closest to the ground floor and then by ascending flat number order.

ADMISSION PROCEDURE:

1. Applicants must complete the Westminster Common Application Form, naming the school as a preference and should also complete the school’s Supplementary Information Form to be fully considered under criteria 1-3,5 or 8. Both forms must be received by the closing date 1st March 2010.

2. Applicants who wish to be considered under categories 1, 2, 3, 5 or 8 must provide documentary evidence of their worship on the school’s clergy/faith form and provide documentary evidence of the Baptism of their child by the closing date.

3. Any applicant who is successful under criteria 9 will be expected to provide formal proof of residency within 14 days of the offer of a place being made or the offer will be withdrawn.

4. Applicants will be informed of the outcome of the application by Monday 10th May 2010.

St. Saviour’s CE Primary School is participating in Westminster’s scheme for co-ordinated admission arrangements. All parents interested in applying for the Reception class in this school should complete a St. Saviour’s supplementary admission form as well as a Westminster Common Application form. These are available from:

School Admission Team, Westminster City Council, 1st floor , 215 Lisson Grove, London NW8 8LF. Telephone: 020 7641 1817

Parents who have not been offered a place have the right to appeal to The Appeals Panel (except in the case of the Nursery, where there is no right of appeal) within 10 working days from the date of the Governors’ letter being sent. Letters of appeal should be sent to:
The Clerk to the Admission Appeal Panel St. Saviour’s School, Shirland Road, London, W9 2JD

In the case of casual admittance, if a place becomes available in the school, the Admissions Committee will review children waiting for a place in accordance with the above criteria. If there are no children waiting, places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
